Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does virtual therapy work?
I use the SimplePractice Telehealth platform. Clients receive an email reminder for their upcoming appointment with a link to connect to the telehealth app (if using a phone) or website (if using a computer).
  • What happens in a therapy session?
We start with a brief check in about how you are feeling, how your week went, and if there are any topics you would like to prioritize in the session. We discuss strategies for managing symptoms of anxiety, boundary setting in relationships, identifying your core values, communicating emotional needs to others, and learning to challenge unbalanced or unhelpful thought patterns. I typically like to end sessions by identifying a self-care activity to focus on or make time for in the week.
  • How long do sessions last?
Sessions last 50 minutes Sessions typically occur once per week
  • How much do sessions cost?
$180 per session billed either as "self-pay" or through your insurance provider. If choosing to use insurance, you may be responsible for a co-pay amount as determined by your insurance.
  • What is "self-pay"?
Self-pay refers to an out-of-pocket cost and is reflective of the amount you will be charged for the service.
  • What insurance do you accept?
BlueCross BlueShield of IL (BCBSIL) PPO only. For other insurance companies, I can provide a superbill for "out-of-network reimbursement."
  • What is a "superbill" or "out-of-network reimbursement"?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services to provide to your private insurance provider for reimbursement. I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance providers except BCBSIL PPO.
